After 10 years on the farm, 10 years in the city, 10 years working for a public accountant firm and 10 years working for myself as an accountant, I have started putting pen to paper, my thoughts on how family farmers can become more resilient, able to pass their farm onto the next generation.
The city / country divide is getting wider. City families do their thing and stay in the city, only conscious of farmers during drought, fire or flood
New legislation is introduced to please families living in cities (eg electronic ear tags, renewable energy built on prime agriculture land, noise reduction laws, etc). It is a constant battle to make a living from farming, trying to leave the farm to the next generation and keeping up to trends in social media.
